Wellness is the Art of Connecting with Yourself & Others

The wellness industry is riddled with rules.

Everyone seems to know the right way to eat, move, be. Regardless of how much content is out there teaching you how to live your life, no one will be able to give you the right answer to how to live your life, except for you.

I’m convinced then that Wellness is the art of connecting with yourself and others. It’s an art because there is no one size fits all and up to individual creative interpretation. It has to start with the self first, for in knowing ourselves, we can extend our boundaries a further to include others without compromising ourselves.

I’ve begun to gather some guidelines for myself when experimenting with my own wellness regimen

My Personal Guidelines

  • working out → movements that feel good

  • restrictive eating → nutrient densed food

  • focusing on appearance → embracing mind/body connection

  • doom-scrolling → mindful consumption

  • creating for aesthetics → creating for joy

  • building alone → connecting with others

  • reducing noise → embracing stillness

  • less online → more offline

Each one of these required me to experiment and define for myself what feels good. When we lead from a place of joy, it’s hard to be wrong.
